Well, what to say? I´m older than 40 now and I´m quite happy with it

Photography

I guess I gotinterested in photography in 1998 – but I´m not sure anymore…doesn´tmatter anyway. I started in landscape photography. Some people saylandscape photography is very diffcult. I don´t think so. Landscapesdon´t run away. You got all the time you need to find the right place,think about your composition and wait for the right light. Landscapephotography is a matter of time and a good feeling for the balance oflight and shadows. I still love landscape photography. It´s veryrelaxing.

Taking pictures ofpeople is technically nearly all the same as landscape photography. Youneed a good light and you need some depth in your composition which allcan be arranged very easily. What cannot be arranged are true emotionalmoments. Interacting with people is the basis for the living factor inyour images which makes it attractive for unknown spectators too, notjust for you and your family. This cannot be achieved easily. It´s amatter of respect and most of all a matter of truth. Good peoplephotography is a matter of truth.

Most of my picturesare b/w film based images. I love the warmth silver films are able totransport rather than the perfect look of digital images allthough someof my pictures shown here are sensor based pictures, too. After a whileI simply found out that analogue film material is a more vivid sourceto show people as they are:

Camera and Lenses

I´m both in middle and small film format. I´m using a hasselblad501 c/m which I really love. My Leica M6 goes with me for daily lifeand landscape photography. I got two lenses, an 80mm lens for thehasselblad and a 35mm lens for the leica. That´s good enough for mostof my pictures and helps preventing from lens confusion. I´m not using flashes, most of the time available light only. For some of my older images I used a digital SLR.

Film material

My favourite silver film is the kodak tri-x 400. For situationswhere colour is needed I mostly use slide films like fuji velvia orfuji provia

Finishing and Printing

All of my photosare fnished digitally. Highend Scans of the negatives / slides are finished in a picture editing program by the same means as used in the darkroom,however digitally. Inkjet printing results on baryt or fine art inkjetpaper are amazing and to my point of view equal to traditional darkroomprints.
