Highlight

01 September by Michael Kellenter

A highlight is the lightest spot or area of something that receives the greatest amount of illumination.  What a miserable circumscription of what you mean to me.

You are the brightest light of my life.

Hasselblad goes high tower

21 Juni by Michael Kellenter

This is the Hasselblad´s view from the high tower. It´s the same place as in the Leica post below but shows a different working position. Four years have passed between these images. Comparing the both photographs I must say, I always very clearly seem to follow similar portrait composition rules no matter what the frame format may be. I do not remember the last time I intentionally thought about arrangement or composition when designing a photograph. Funny awareness realizing that some things after some time seem to even out without thinking about it.

Time

01 Mai by Michael Kellenter

Time for a break. Time to sit down and wait. Just rest for a while. I´m not in a hurry. Time does not exist until we want it to.

Old stuff

Herzensangelegenheit

26 Januar by Michael Kellenter

Do Nothing

28 Dezember by Michael Kellenter

February 2008.

Again, we are back on vacation at our favorite hut located somewhere in the mountains of Austria, 1600 m above mean sea level. This place is like paradise to me. Exclusive back row seats with a perfect view in a threehundredandsixty degree nature´s cinema. A small wooden refuge in the middle of nowhere, access to everywhere - snow shoes provided. This place is absolutely out of reach for any kind of daily business. No way to get there without 4-wheel drive in winter. No worries, not any kind of precipitance. Values change promptly. We pay more attention to things like obtaining wood to keep the oven running rather than any other issues. Armin (my best friend), me and our dogs are here for the 5th or 6th time. We just moved in all our stuff we would need for a week. Clothes, beer, food, film photo cameras and a guitar. Evening sneaks up, sun´s downing. It´s so quiet. Finally our dogs come to rest. I sit. And I look around. It´s such a peaceful moment. I ask myself, what can I do to perpetuate this kind of peace for my everyday life.

"Do nothing, don´t control, don´t interfere" a voice says.

I turn around. Nobody there. After a while I decide not to question this occurance.

I just watch my sleeping dog. Is that "doing nothing"?

"Yes it is"

Roadside attractions

09 Dezember by Michael Kellenter

This is from Feb 2009. I´ll eventually add it to my "Landleben im Quadrat" project. Guess I´ll go for some more portraits of people living in or next to my village next year.

Black and White

05 Dezember by Michael Kellenter
Nothing deeper than this.
Nothing wider than that.
Not you.
Not me.
Not black.
Not white.
Just Black and White.
